Color

Cumbria is a county in northwest England that borders Scotland. It is known for its deep blue  lakes, high mountainous moors( with sheep grazing on them) as well as famous poets and writers including Henry Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Beatrix Potter.

This spectacular place is the inspiration for The Fibre Co.’s classic worsted weight yarn, Cumbria. This yarn is a combination of fine Merino for softness, wool from the English Masham sheep for a beautiful heathered color and Argentinian mohair for strength and luster. Garments made from Cumbria are practical but still add luxury to everyday wear. Cumbria is on the light side of the worsted weight spectrum making this yarn perfect if you like versatile but not overly warm pullovers, cardigans, shawls and hats. These garments are perfect for long walks in the highlands whether you are in Great Britain or Park City.

The color palette ranges from tranquil greens and blues to rich reds and pinks to earthy neutrals, each color reflects the breathtaking landscapes of Cumbria. Many of them are named after places in Cumbria such as Blencathra, Derwentwater, Nutkin, and Scafell Pike.
