Welcome autumn with Brooklyn Tweed's Imbue Sport
Share
With school starting soon and football back on tv, it is time to start your autumn knitting and crochet projects. A perfect yarn to begin with is Imbue Sport from Brooklyn Tweed. This company is known for its dedication to American-sourced and spun wool. In fact, the merino used in this yarn is from Utah and Nevada!
Imbue Sport is an ideal choice for lightweight sweaters and accessories. (It is so soft that it can be worn next to the skin.) Imbue Sport’s heathered colorways are blended from an assortment of fleece-dyed solid colors, creating richly complex shades that harmonize beautifully in colorwork and stripes.

One of my favorite projects designed for Imbue Sport is Grist Pullover by Jared Flood. In Jared’s words, “Grist offers a restrained take on traditional fishing sweaters, featuring ribbed shoulder epaulets and delicate, allover banded patterns that recall favorite ganseys of old. Despite its relaxed nature, the boxy silhouette cleverly conceals shaping details that preserve a flattering proportion and fit. Deep, sloping shoulder lines prevent the upper yoke from being overwhelmed with excess fabric, while optional subtle body shaping tailors the fit of the lower body.”
This sweater is knit from the top down giving you the option to try it on along the way to adjust for length and fit.

If you love the Grist Pullover stitch pattern but are looking for a smaller project, Grist Hat, again by Jared Flood, is the solution. This hat which uses Imbue Sport begins with a double brim worked in 1-by-1 ribbing and then progresses to the Grist stitch pattern which may be worked from either a chart or written instructions.
If you feel like starting a colorwork project with Imbue Sport, Gatekeeper Sweater by Olga Putano Designs is a very fun choice! It features colorwork motifs on the yoke, body and sleeves. The pattern is also worked seamlessly from the top down. Need a bit of extra challenge? There are a few sections where three colors are used at the same time.
And finally, are you looking to knit a beautiful scarf to gift (or to keep for yourself) using Imbue Sport? Dunaway by Julie Hoover is stunning. This reversible scarf in slipped garter rib is a perfect project for less experienced knitters or for anyone who prefers simple, uncomplicated style.
