We are ready for spring with Tosh Wool + Cotton! (And sign up now for Tori’s new classes!)

Spring is around the corner making it a great time to revisit a wonderful wool and cotton blend from Madelinetosh aptly named Tosh Wool + Cotton.

Tosh Wool + Cotton is a Dk-weight 50/50 blend of superwash merino and Pima cotton both being ethically sourced in Peru. The superwash merino gives projects made from this yarn the ability to be machine washed on gentle cycle while the Pima cotton gives them additional next to your skin softness as well as durability.

Sweaters and shawls knit from Tosh Wool +Cotton are wonderful for transitioning into warmer seasons which are ahead of us. If you have never knit a sweater but would like to learn how, keep reading!

One sweater, which we enjoyed as a knit-along last year, is Corran Cardigan by Rebecca Clow, who many of you know from her Creabea Knitting PodcastCorran Cardigan is beautiful in Tosh Wool + Cotton. This lace cardigan is knitted from the bottom up with drop shoulders and includes two neckline options, round and V-neck, as well as two sleeve lengths so you can create the perfect sweater for you!

Another pattern designed by Rebecca, that is adorable in Tosh Wool + Cotton, is Tolsta Tee. This is a basic raglan t-shirt that can be easily customized using different design options. Rebecca includes additional pages on how to incorporate stripes, eyelets as well as different sleeve lengths.

One very talented designer, who I should feature more in my newsletters, is Olga Putano. She designed this cute tee, Morning Ritual Top, for Tosh Wool + Cotton.  From Olga, “Morning Ritual top is worked from the bottom up, both in the round and flat. The colorwork section is worked in the round, followed by stockinette worked flat for the yoke. The roomy fit and short ribbed sleeves make the fit so comfortable and the drop shoulder style makes it effortlessly stylish. A great beginner colorwork project and overall, an easy and quick make!”

I love Espace Tricot’s Sunday Morning Wrap and it would be so pretty knit in Tosh Wool + Cotton.  I just returned from my buying trip in Europe, and this wrap would be a very popular accessory there being worn over sweaters, light coats. The lightly textured fabric of Sunday Morning Wrap is knitted in the shape of an inverted isosceles trapezoid. The elongated shape is perfect both as a light wrap and a cozy scarf and makes for a perfectly gender neutral accessory.

For a men’s pullover in Tosh Wool + Cotton, I recommend In Stillness 2 by Alicia Plummer. This raglan sweater is knitted from the top down. The pattern also includes a schematic which is very helpful when deciding which size to knit.

March and April Classes with Tori

Musselburgh Hat** – Mondays, March 24, April 7 & 21 from 5:30-7:30pm ($70)

Learn how to knit the Musselburgh Hat by Ysolda Teague! This is an advanced beginner class for those who can knit and purl and have successfully finished a few projects. Though Musselburgh hat can be knit using different yarn weights, DK will be used in this class. Recommended yarns for the class are Leizu DK from Julie Asselin, Double Sunday from Sandnes Garn, Pure Alpaca from Rowan, or either of our Dragon Hoard DK weight yarns.

There is no homework for this class, which is nice. Recommended yarns are Line or Duo from Sandnes Garn or Tosh Wool + Cotton from Madelinetosh.
