Wasatch and Wool 2.0

Wasatch and Wool 2.0

I am really pleased to announce that Wasatch and Wool Yarns will soon have a new owner! Some of you may already know Alex Schwerdt Wheeler from Tori’s Anker Summer Shirt class or from our Tuesday night Purls and Prosecco.  Alex will become the new owner on October 1st! She has a multitude of great ideas that she will be bringing to the store, but I will let her tell you more about them later this year.

In the meantime, it’s business as usual at the store. We will even be announcing new yarn acquisitions in a few weeks just in time for fall projects.

What's on Margaux's Needles

It’s been very busy at the store this summer between the Utah Yarn Crawl (a big thank you to everyone who stopped by) and working on the sale of the store, but never too busy for me to find at least a little time to knit. I decided to knit PetiteKnit’s Cumulus Blouse. I wanted something light and portable that I could bring along with me everywhere to knit and would be as comfortable as a long-sleeve t-shirt to wear.

Rowan yarns Fine Tweed Haze is the perfect choice for this project, think of it as a combination of Rowan’s Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze. In this blend, however, the mohair and silk are replaced by alpaca giving the yarn a dreamy yet contemporary look.

If you would like to join me in knitting one, we have beautiful colors in stock, and I would love to help you get started.

When I complete this project, I will be close to my retirement and have decided to knit something fun and whimsical. It will either be Caitlin Hunter’s King Salmon or Halibut.

Decisions seem to be an issue as I’m having a difficult time picking which pattern and deciding on the yarn! I’ve chosen 2 colors of Mota from WoolDreamers, but I might switch to Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino or even Rowan Felted Tweed and knit the pullover a couple of sizes larger because of the smaller gauge.

Comments or suggestions, especially if you have knit either of these two sweaters, would be greatly appreciated!

Wednesday help sessions

We are very fortunate to have Annabel Jamail joining us on Wednesdays from 11:00am-1:30pm. If you need a friendly person to look over your knitting or have a question about a particular stitch, these sessions are for you! The cost is $25 per session. They are free if your yarn was purchased from Wasatch and Wool!

Join us Wednesday mornings at 11am for our Sit and Stitch.

There is no charge, but we request that you use yarn purchased from Wasatch and Wool.

We love it when visitors drop by for our knitting get-togethers. If you are working on a project from home, let us help you find a souvenir that you can bring back from your trip to Park City.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting,
Margaux
