The Utah Yarn Crawl starts this Saturday, June 12th!

Utah Yarn Crawl

The Utah Yarn Crawl is back starting this Saturday, July 12th with more stores and more opportunities to win prizes! The participating stores are Petit Fours & Purls in Lehi, Yarn on the Corner in Sandy, Handwork SLC and The Knitting Hive in Salt Lake, Harmony in Provo, Needlepoint Joint in Ogden, Willow Hill Yarn Co. in West Jordan, Julia’s Shoppe in Richfield, Seed Stitch in Bountiful, and of course Wasatch and Wool in Park City.

The goal is to visit all the stores and get your card stamped at each one. Cards and totes can be picked up at whichever store you begin your day with while supplies last. (Participants must be 18 years or older.) Visit all ten stores in one day or make the crawl last and visit them over the course of the week. The crawl runs through Saturday, 19th.

Once your card is complete, turn it in by the end of the day on the 19th to be entered in that store’s grand prize which will be worth over $300. Our grand prize at Wasatch and Wool is the Forte 2.0 Interchangeable Needle Set worth $330!

In addition to the yarn crawl, HapBee Creative Studios and Positively Yarnie have created the Gardenscapes Collection, a stitch marker and coordinating sticker set for each of the ten yarn stores. To receive your exclusive Gardenscapes Collection prize, purchase one set from each shop and post a photo of all ten sets on Instagram tagging both @hapbee_creativestudios and @positivelyyarnie. Prizes need to be picked up at Willow Hill Yarn Co. by August 1st.

This month, I’m featuring Sandnes Garn Merinoull because it is a wonderful yarn to work with if you are spending time inside avoiding the July heat or if you need to knit and “unwind” after an amazing summer day in the Utah mountains.

Merinoull is a luxurious DK-weight yarn made from 100% superwash merino wool, offering the perfect blend of softness, warmth, and practicality. It’s especially beloved for baby garments and everyday knits that need to be both cozy and easy to care for. It has a similar gauge and is available in many of the same colors as Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt but without the rustic feel.

One of my favorite patterns for Merinoull is Monday Sweater by PetiteKnit. It is an incredibly comfy and cozy sweater for running errands, meeting up with friends, and even just hanging out at home. The Monday Sweater is worked from the top down with raglan increases to shape the yoke. The neck rib edge is folded and knitted together (to form a double neckband).

With the Utah Yarn Crawl fast approaching, I was just reminiscing about my Ontario Cowl which I designed several years ago for the second Utah Yarn Crawl. Merinoull would be a great choice for this pattern. If this design is something that you would like to knit, please contact me. I would be happy to send you the pattern.

If you are getting an early start on holiday knitting, Weekend Hat by PetiteKnit or The World’s Simplest Mittens by Tin Can Knits are wonderful gifts especially when knit in Merinoull.

And finally, you may have a little sweetie pie to knit for. Willum’s Overalls also by PetiteKnit was designed for Merinoull. Sizes range from 2-4 months to 3-4 years. These overalls are also adorable on little girls.

The retirement sale continues as I meet with potential new owners. Our back room is 40% off and everything in the first two rooms (including needles and accessories) is 20% off. If you are shopping online, please use the code W&W20 to receive the 20% discount.

Wednesday help sessions

We are very fortunate to have Annabel Jamail joining us on Wednesdays from 11:00am-1:30pm. If you need a friendly person to look over your knitting or have a question about a particular stitch, these sessions are for you! The cost is $25 per session. They are free if your yarn was purchased from Wasatch and Wool.

Sit and Stitch -  Wednesday mornings at 11am

There is no charge, but we request that you use yarn purchased from Wasatch and Wool.

We love it when visitors drop by for our knitting get-togethers. If you are working on a project from home, let us help you find a souvenir that you can bring back from your trip to Park City.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting,
Margaux
