The Small(ish) Projects Issue
I recently noticed that my last few newsletters have focused almost exclusively on sweaters, so it is time to share the spotlight and have one that focuses on smaller projects. If you are like me, you tend to work on tees, socks and even sweaters during the summer, but you need cooler weather to be able to focus on hats, cowls, and scarves. Now that the heat of summer seems to be behind us and strips of orange are appearing on the mountain, it is time to pick up that hat.

Currently on my needles (let’s call it a WIP), is Harlow Flip by Andrea Mowry. This is a fun, beginner friendly brioche hat that uses two colors of DK weight yarn. I’m using Skadi from Hey Mama Wolf which has quickly become one of my favorites. Another yarn idea is Leizu DK from Julie Asselin which would be spectacular in this project!

Another top selling hat pattern in the store is Traveler Hat also from Andrea Mowry. The pattern was written for Brooklyn Tweed Shelter which we still have some skeins of. Other yarns that can be used in place of Shelter are Julie Asselin Journey Worsted, Pickles Tjukk Merino, and WoolDreamers Mota which all would be lovely in the hat.

While scrolling through the Hot Right Now patterns on Ravelry, I found the Greenery Cowl by Amy van de Laar. Amy is a knitwear designer and singer who live is Melbourne, Australia. Many of you may know her from her Beeswax Hat which has over 3,400 projects on Ravelry.
Greenery Cowl is her latest pattern, and it is beautiful! I have already purchased it because it’s on sale through August 31st on Ravlery. I’m planning on knitting at least two. One for me and one as a Christmas gift. Pure Alpaca from Rowan would be a gorgeous yarn for this project.

Start knitting Amy’s Melisma Scarf now so it will be ready for the fall. I love the elegant cables which have a lot of impact without being overly difficult. Our Woolfolk Far would make Melisma Scarf even more stunning.

Our last hat pattern comes from Heidi at Pickles Yarn in Norway and is for those who feel we need a lot more peace right now. Peace Hat/Lue uses Pickles Cozy a soft and “cozy” bulky weight yarn. The photo below shows it in white and black, but I think it is even more dramatic in bold colors.

Wednesday help sessions
We are very fortunate to have Annabel Jamail joining us on Wednesdays from 11:00am-1:30pm. If you need a friendly person to look over your knitting or have a question about a particular stitch, these sessions are for you! The cost is $25 per session. They are free if your yarn was purchased from Wasatch and Wool!
Join us Wednesday mornings at 11am for our Sit and Stitch.
There is no charge, but we request that you use yarn purchased from Wasatch and Wool.
We love it when visitors drop by for our knitting get-togethers. If you are working on a project from home, let us help you find a souvenir that you can bring back from your trip to Park City.
Happy Knitting and Crocheting,
Margaux
