Spotlight on Nua Sport and 20% off all Rowan!

If you are searching for a yarn that you will love all year long, Nua Sport from Stolen Stitches is the yarn for you! Nua Sport is a blend of 60% merino, 20% yak, and 20% linen. Each of these fibers were chosen to create a wonderful yarn blend. Merino provides a soft, squishy, and versatile base. The yak adds silkiness, so the yarn flows through your fingers, and finally the linen adds strength and durability. Nua Sport’s hand-dyed colorways were inspired by the countryside near Cork Ireland.
Nua Sport is non-superwash, which creates a lighter yarn with a bit more bounce, making blocking easier and helping projects (especially garments) hold their shape nicely.
One of my favorite cardigans designed for Nua Sport comes from Carol Feller the designer behind Stolen Stitches. Tabouli features an intertwining lace and cable detail that weaves along the shoulders, sleeves and body.
This cardigan starts at the center of the saddle on the back of the neck, working to each side. The body is then picked up and worked from the top down. Finally short rows are used to shape the sleeve caps. The sleeves are worked from the top down in the round.
Two other sweater ideas for Nua Sport come from Andrea Mowry. Both the DRK Everyday Sweater and her new DRK Everyday Cardigan are beautiful when knitted in Nua Sport. The DRK (DreaReneeKnits) Everyday Sweater is a nice choice for someone trying their first sweater. It is knit from the top down (meaning you can try it on as you go and add length to suit your own personal style!).
The DRK Everyday Cardigan is also top-down. Here you will start with the folded collar. The raglan “seams” from the yoke are carried all the way down to the hem of the cardigan. The body is knit flat, and the sleeves are in the round. The button band is worked using an applied double-knit technique for a beautifully polished finish!
One more pattern suggestion for Nua Sport is Anker’s Cardigan – My Size. Anker's Summer Shirt has been one of the most popular patterns in the store and Tori is currently teaching a class on how to knit this pullover. Anker’s Cardigan – My Size is the cardigan version with a slightly smaller gauge. Also knitted from the top-down, Anker’s Cardigan – My Size has a circular yoke worked in sections of rib with increases followed by classic raglan increases.
Speaking of Tori, she has a new class this month. In this class, Tori will guide you through Caitlin Hunter’s Sacred Sheep Hat. This class is intended for knitters who can knit and purl, have made hats before but are interested in learning how to knit colorwork. The class will be held on Saturday, April 12 from 9am to 12pm.
The cost of the class is $35, but the yarn needs to be purchased from Wasatch and Wool or there will be a $25 fee. For this project, we recommend The Fibre Co. Cumbria, Pickles Tjukk Merino, Sandnes Garn Alpakka Ull, or Malabrigo Rios.
We have a very special promotion this April! All Rowan magazines, booklets, and yarns are 20% off this month! This includes our new Pure Alpaca, Rowan Felted Tweed and Summerlite 4ply.
Our sale room is fully restocked. Stop by and find some gorgeous yarn for 30% off!
