Happy Thanksgiving! (Plus Black Friday and Small Business Saturday Store Specials!)

Everyone here at the store wants to wish you all a very happy and relaxing Thanksgiving. Whether you’re celebrating with friends, family or enjoying a quiet one on your own, please know that your support and friendship mean so much to us all.

We will be closed on Thursday but will reopen for our regular business hours on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday to help you jump start your holiday shopping, knitting and crochet!
Fonty Tote Bag

Our first special is a tote bag from Fonty with the purchase of 4 skeins of Fonty yarn. This special is available in the store or online while our supply of the bags last.

Back in our September newsletter, I wrote about how happy I am to stock Fonty from France given their history (since 1880), their forward-thinking environmental practices, and gorgeous yarns.  Below are a few photos to help you envision where these yarns come from.
I also wrote about Guéret, our first yarn from Fonty. Guéret is named after a town in Creuse known for its woodland areas and sheep farms. Guéret is a machine washable (delicates please!) 100% extra-fine Merino wool. This soft and versatile yarn is wonderful for all ages and comes in a spectacular range of colors.
Favorite store projects with Guéret include Lil Kimonos by Julie Partie which we also have as a shop sample and Caine from Monie Ebner.

If you are looking to knit a sweater for a special little someone, I would recommend Thistle another pattern from Julie Partie or Marieke (Little) by Along avec Anna. The pattern ranges in size from 6 months to 12 years.
We now stock a second yarn from Fonty.

Super Tweed is one of Fonty’s signature yarns. Made from 95% fine wool and 5% Mohair, Super Tweed is a woolen spun yarn with an extraordinary feel. Among tweeds, Super Tweed is the only one to be made of 100% natural fibers. Its buttons (or nubs) are actually made from dyed wool unlike other tweed yarns.
Super Tweed is wonderful in a wide range of patterns including sweaters, scarves, mittens, headbands and hats.

Here are a few suggestions and projects I hope to cast-on:

From Andrea Mowry, there are The Weekender and Winters Beach CardiThe Weekender features texture, faux seams, a drop shoulder and some positive ease which combine to make a flattering sweater that can be worn almost everywhere.
Winters Beach Cardi is a is a cozy cabled cardigan with a no-fuss style and is lovely in Super Tweed. It  even has adorable cables pockets.
I rarely feature men’s sweaters, however Fort by Jared Flood knit in Super Tweed makes a great sweater.

A simple checkerboard of knits and purls creates subtle all-over texture. The contrast-color elbow patches give the sweater either a bit more scholarly or playful feel depending on the colors you choose. Please note, this is an adventurous knitting project suited to more experienced knitters.
If you want to make a simpler and much quicker project using Super TweedJason’s Cashmere Hat by Melissa Thomson is an easy choice.

Jason’s Cashmere Hat features a simple cable design for extra warmth, firm ribbing to help keep its shape, and a thick, folded brim that can be adjusted to cover the ears on extra chilly days.

Knitters and crocheters of all levels are welcome at our Wednesday morning sit and knits. There is no charge, but we request that you use yarn purchased from Wasatch and Wool Yarns.

We love when visitors drop by for our knitting get togethers. If you are working on a project from home, let us help you find a souvenir that you can bring back from your trip to Park City.
